  • From Jerusalem to Colebrook

This book contains 38 chapters of the history of the pioneers and early settlers of the Colebrook area in Tasmania, as well as maps and and photos.  It also has 51 chapters on the families of the Colebrook, Yarlington, Eldon and Spring Hill Bottom areas, one chapter for each family.

Since early settlement, a vast number of people in the region relied on agriculture, and until more recent years, forestry, sawmilling and the railway.  The evolution of the motor car and road transport has had a big impact on the use of the rail system and this has brought about a significant reduction in  railway employment.  Other industries to suffer were wool production, local sawmills, forestry and agricultural pursuits.

As this book has the potential for many people to rekindle fond memories of the pioneer spirit and characters who possessed special attributes and skills in their communities, it is hoped that their descendants and people who are interested in the early settlement of Tasmania, will receive enormous enjoyment from this publication.

The companion book "From Flat Top to Rhyndaston" covers the history of Rhyndaston and Tiberias and it's pioneer families.
